A 1/2 ton truck is a bit light for a slide in camper. The half ton designation means you can carry up to 1,000 lbs. If your slide-in is 2,000 lbs they that would be a no go. Most use a 3/4 or 1 ton for that service depending on the size of the slide-in. The small trailer would be a good route as it leaves the bed available for haulling.
