Travis, you mean the filler/breather/pcv holes on the cover, not the bolt holes on the gasket? - won't make any diff on the cover holes, except you'll hafta plug the excess hole unless you come up w/ something that uses it - if yer talkin the gaskets, then like Evan sez, the double holes are so it fits various years
