| | | | Joined: Jun 2000 Posts: 2,773 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2000 Posts: 2,773 | Steam cleaners are very useful for removing years of caked on grease and dirt. You might want to pre-soak the worst with detergent a day or two before cleaning.
As for causing more rust, it will. The problems will show up where the grease was caked on, protecting the metal. I would consider this a first step in restoration, since the bared metal will rust faster.
