Not clear of your question here :

If there's overspray on the _engine_ , get some cardboard for masking and foo-foo cans of the color you want the engine , wash it , strip it , mask it and re-paint it in situ , you'll love it when it's all dressed again .

If there's overspray from the engine into the firewall etc. , get some rubbing compound and polish it all off the firewall / body as necessary .

use cheap natural sponges as they work the best and are cheap to boot , old towels from the thrift store so's you don't ruin your good polishing rags...
