I've been thinking about this since I replied yesterday. To respond more directly to the question, my breaking point is fixing the same thing twice. At that point I want to upgrade or re-engineer to prevent having the same thing break twice.
Since I'm using these trucks differently than they were really designed for, it's not really a surprise that sometimes the original doesn't work as well as something newer.
