Steve - yes the bezel nut is what holds the early ones on, with a little doober inside to hold the motor in the right position and keep from turning
you guys w/ vacuum motors should consider using
the wipermans service - he bought out all the remaining stock from TRICO years ago and really does a good number on'em - work like new for ages after
