I see no reason why the later model seats would not fit. You may have to rework the floor mounts though.
What I have seen used on 67-72 is the middle seat from 92-99 suburbans being used. The seat back folds forward and the seat bottom flips up giving great access to the areas behind and under. Also seen these used in Task Force series.
