I took the hood apart on the 6400 series I am now working on. It didn't seem to be much worse than a lot of other things I did to the truck. I think you will probably be sorry if you don't do it. There is almost certain to be some rust between the two halves, and it will come back to bite you if you don't deal with it. Allen
