Happened to me on the `48 1-ton.
I was driving down the road, made a left turn and went down the road. shifted from 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th and WHAM! eek
Whole truck was shaking violently. I pulled dover to look for the hole I thought would be in the side of the engine and everythig looked fine except for the engine shaking to beat hell. WHen I got it home, I pulled the rocker cover to see which pushrod I had bent,,,, Hmmmmmm,,,, None bent
I was reaching for the fan blade to help turn the engine to look at the rest of the pushrods and there was nothing there on that side
I looked for the missing piece as there was no holes in the hood, fenders or radiator. I found a piece of metal bent in half and folded in half the other way laying just on top of the brake line which runs in the front cross-member eek
Replaced the fan and truck ran fine cool

There is enough good in the worst of us and enough bad in the best of us that it does not behoove any of us to criticize the rest of us.

Be yourself. If you are ever lost, It will be much easier to find yourself if you know who you are!
