I have a 1950 3600 and the right rear spring hanger has a crack where the shackle goes through. The crack is on the front side. As it sits now, there is no weight stressing the crack. If the truck was put up on a lift and the wheels allowed to hang, the weight of the axle would pull down the shackle and exert a force that pulls the crack apart. The metal that surrounds the shackle is where the crack is. I hope this paints a pretty good picture of where it is at. I obviously want to get this fixed, but I was wondering what you guys thought about the urgency of the problem. Can I drive on it without worrying too much? As long as i take it easy? Not a good idea to drive it at all? Also, do you know of any online vendors or good salvage yards in Illinois that I could get a replacement part from?
Thanks,
JON
