I've never sent AD rear fenders, but I'm assuming they are too big for UPS. I can just barely get '40-'46 rear fenders to go UPS and they seem smaller. You could check with FedEx ground, I'm sure their size limits are on the website some where. If both the buyer and seller are near airports that are served by Forward Air, that actually works out real good. A couple months ago I sent a complete, but knocked down, '40 1/2-ton PU box to a Stovebolter in Seattle. That's around 2,000 miles from here. Cost was just under $75 (IIRC) and it was there in a couple days. Only drawback is that the skid had to be dropped off and picked up at the Forward Air terminal near the airport at each end, but that was only a 20 mile drive for each of us, so no big deal.
I also sent some '40 1-1/2 ton front fenders and runningboards to a Stovebolter in New York this spring by Forward Air. Again, the price wasn't bad compared to trucking, and it was there in 2 days. As always, the better you package or crate the parts, the less chance of damage there is. Never any problems with UPS or Forward Air, but I tend to go overboard packaging parts.
I've also heard of some people using Greyhound to send large sheetmetal parts, but I've never done that myself. Mostly because the Greyhound terminals in St. Paul and Mpls. that are within driving distance to me, are both in areas that you would avoid in the day and for sure not go to at night.
