For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jun 2005 Posts: 3 Junior Member | | Junior Member Joined: Jun 2005 Posts: 3 | I have a 1953 Chevy half ton pick up with what I was told was a 56 235 inline six. After identifing the engine code I determined it was a 59. I ordered the water pump for it from the casting number on the water pump and by engine number and the pump fit except it is about 1 inch longer than the original pump.
I looked at another forum and there was another 53 truck owner asking the same question and one suggestion other than ordering a short shaft version pump was to press the hub on further and cut off the excess shaft. Does anyone have an idea how to do this? | | |
