I recently had my 49 1/2 ton appraised. The serial number on both the Washington State title of the previous owner and my new title in West Virginia matches the number on the engine block. This number is different than the one on the plate inside the driver's door. I have always thought of the number on the door jamb to be more of a manufacturing ID since it shows date, plant, etc. The appraiser suggested that I have a new door plate made and use the number that is on the title or I could have big problems if I ever try to sell the truck. I tend to disagree. Have any of you ever had this be a problem?
