| | | | Joined: May 2001 Posts: 1,904 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2001 Posts: 1,904 | My '48 3/4T had three 17" split ring rims and one 17" 1-piece rim on it when I bought it. It can be hard to get a tire shop to work on the split rims so a lot of folks go to a 16" 1-piece rim.
I put aftermarket 16" 1-piece rims with 235-85-16 radial tires on them. (I forget where the "R" goes.) There has been a lot of discussion here on the type of rim that will clear the tie rod ends up front. I found that 6 inch wide rims worked for me.
1948 3/4-Ton 5-Window Flatbed Chevrolet 34 Years. Now with a '61 261, 848 head, Rochester Monojet carb, SM420 4-speed, 4.10 rear, dual reservoir MC, Bendix up front, 235/85R16 tires, 12-volt w/alternator, electric wipers and a modern radio in the glove box.
