Just finished doing that on my '59. I used a Ball joint Pickel fork to remove the shackels and then a ~ 20" breaker bar and socket to get the bolts to move. It some force but they moved with just hand power.

The bushings were another thing! I bought Harbor Freight's "3-IN-1 Service Kit" Model 38335 and a 5/8" socket(if I remember right) This is a big "C" clamp with a hole in it. The bushing popped and squeeled but came out with the breaker bar and socket.

When I put the new bushings in, I put them in the freezer overnight first and used the 3-IN-1 to press them in. That was very easy.

The rear I used the same system. It was a very good value for the $40.00 I spent.
