I had used a por 15 kit to redo my original 54 tank a few years ago. I now get rust in my fuel filter and have been changing them out too often. I changed the quadrajet filter and after doing so I have fuel all over the intake. I assume I stuck something up inside it as I can't bang on it to unstick a float as I had thought.

So I have a pal who is giving me another q jet. Instead of going on with the rusty mess I ordered and just received a chevy duty replacement tank and a new fuel sender and gasket.

Is the old carb so full of junk that it needs rebuilt and if so is a qjet hard to do?

Other than a float sticking what could it be?

Should I replace the fuel pump too?

Blow out the old fuel line or replace?

Any tips would be appreciated.

PS Chevy Duty tank is made in Taiwan
