Made it!!!
Ran pretty good all the way; truck's not been on the road since 1978 so the only (fairly predictable) problem was dirt in the carburettor, despite the seller's best efforts to clean it out.
Kept cutting out in traffic, but if I left it half an hour the tick-over came back in. Even overtook a couple of cars!
Only casualty was a traffic bollard in one of the towns I pased through; momentarily forgot that the truck's left hand drive!
No damage though, it was one of the "easy knock-over" type, give the local council something to do on Monday.
