gmcfan: You must have a Dana 44. Should have 10 bolts on the housing and the Dana 60 has 12, I think. Back in the 70's I used to have a 62 GMC 1/2 ton with 305 V-6, and 4 spd. and a Spicer rear 4.11to1 (MT Model) and coil spring rear suspension. I bought the truck from my Dad, who had bought it NEW. Anyway one day the pinion went south, so I went to a GMC dealer and mechanic told me I needed a new carrier. Went to wrecking yard and found one in a 60 GMC, also a Spicer MT. I was told at the time that all 60,61,and 62 had Spicer rears and that GMC used Dana rears in 63 when they changed back to leaf rear suspension. I don't know, it might just be one of those weird GM things of using different parts (2 different rears) during transition year of model, or part change, in that model. They have done that kind of thing lots of times before. I would advise checking with your local GMC or Chevy dealer and/or website for advise/help!!!
