there have been threads on this, but I haven't fully taken them in. However there is a hole up high in the post, maybe partially hidden by the windlace. That hole is accessable from inside the post if the head liner is off. This is because the top of the inside of the post is open at the top. I assume that that is where the reinforcement plate is placed.
