Trimming fans is simple,ya just gotta be smarter than the fan and not just hack away.I would consider a 50 year old fan far more potentialy dangerous than a new one with a slight edge trimming.
The stock 302 GMC and a few other engines have the inner fan blade edges trimmed for damper clearance.When nothing off the shelf fits,make what ya want.
