It's a shame devillians own de truck. I hate to see any old vehicles get wasted anymore. Every one that gets scrapped is gone forever. That's why I passed over a couple of really decent, but original trucks and bought the kluged up one that I did. I want to do a resto-mod and I don't want to take an original apart.
But... Regarding the Spot & Steal
That happened to the dad of a friend of mine. He had every automobile he ever owned sitting out behind the machine shed. He might have worn them out, but he never parted them out or parted with them. One day he went out there for something and his '37 Plymouth business coupe was gone. There were still truck and trailer tracks in the pasture, so it had only disappeared within a day or two previous.
If it was abandoned in the desert, that's one thing, but don't even joke about stealing someone's vintage tin...
