Hello everyone. I have been searching forever, trying to find the measurements for the mounting points of the suspension for a 3/4 or 1 ton chev pickup, '73 to 84 (? what year did the leaf sprung dana 44 front axle end ?) As I would like to start a project vehicle and do my own frame fabrication. I actually bought a scrap '80 3/4 ton, stripped it, and measured it, but the papers were destroyed in an unfortunate accident - after the truck was gone. Is there anyone out there that has any idea where I can get diagrams with measurements for this style of truck frame? Doesn't matter if longbed, blazer, or pickup as I am not concerned with body mounting or driveshaft length, etc... at the moment. Specifically, I just need the measurements of the relationships of the axles/springs to the frame, steering box, etc... So that factory pinion angles, etc can be preserved. Any help will mean that my firstborn will bear your name. My intentions are for a straight ladder frame using 2 1/2 x 6 1/2 HSS, Air bag assisted factory spring packs on a Dana 44 front and Corp 14 Bolt rear, 292 I-6 with my own version of T.B.I. T400 Trans, and as yet to be decided Xfer case. I thank you for any help you can offer as to where I can find these drawings.
Further, When my fuel injection control computer is complete and tested (My P-32 is allocated as a test mule), I will be happy to post it here for all to use if I'm allowed to. I'm basing it on very cheap and flexible hardware than any of you can get for a few bucks, will interface to a laptop for tuning with a very friendly interface, and will be able to "learn" the basic feedback parameters. I'll write the code in GWBASIC to keep it really simple and easy to hack. Again thanks if anybody can tell me where to get those measurements - I am dying to get the chopsaw and welder going!
