Thanks for the response. The general purpose cleaner sounds like the best option. Amyl acetate as suggested on the web site or carbon teterachloride, or a number of other cleaners while effective are now hard to find or prohibited unless you have a class 3 chemical permit.
I will give it a shot cleaning the vinyl. Even if I ruin it, it is not a big loss. It just chaps my rootie kazoo that purvayors to a nich market use substandard materials, and pass them off as "good as original" Jimmie.
