no doubt it could be done Ken, but if you don't have the deluxe heater to go with the control, what are you hoping to achieve? the control unit isn't an "upgrade", the way the heat/defrost functions doesn't change
the standard and dealer installed heaters have a lever on the face of them, one way is heat to the floor, other way is heat into the defrost ducts ... the deluxe heater has a more elaborate setup cable controlled by the fancy control unit on the dash - if you like the look better, put it in, carry on using the handle on the heater
