I have a general question about bolts on my 1949 216. This is my first post and kind of a goofy question. The bolts for my thermostat housings are grade 5 3/8" x 1". I can purchase replacements from multiple suppliers. But the head height on my original bolts is much taller. Replacements show a head height of 0.234" where the originals measure about 0.285". I really like the look of the beefier head height. Are there suppliers for these vintage style bolts, or should I just not worry about that and replace with the newer style?
My truck was a farm truck its entire life and was my Dad's. It's condition tells its story, and I am replacing what it needs to get it backroads worthy.
