If you the motor is still good you could do what I did ,the wire covering was worn were it goes through the motor housing .I opened it up to look at the brushes and was able to put a little grease on the bushings without pulling it to far were the brushes would fall out ,Other than that if you want the original look you could slide a piece of cloth loom over the wire.I don’t think you would have to take the motor apart to cover the wire maybe with a dab of silicone on the end to hold it from slipping up the wire.
