I am posting the results of my efforts to connect an IDIDIT steering column to a Mustang II steering rack just in case it helps anyone else endeavoring to do the same or similar.
Picture 1: The big picture showing 3 Borgeson U-joints and 2 steering rods. The steering rods are 3/4"DD. The rod to the rack is 9 1/8" long. The rod to the steering column is 5 5/8"
Picture 2: At the end of the steering column: One of the 2 set screws on the steering column requires drilling a hole for the set screw to penetrate the steering column itself. For all other set screws, except 1 other, it is required to drill an indentation to lock in the set screw using a 5/16" drill bit (in practice, we worked up to the 5/16 drill bit).
Picture 3: Shows the "middle" U-joint. Borgeson U-joints cannot exceed a 35 degree angle. To meet that, we had to "shove" the steering column as far as we could into the cab (you can see that in picture 1), and we had to make that middle U-joint as close to the column support assembly as we felt was prudent.
Picture 4: Shows the connection to the power steering rack. That U-joint only has 1 set screw and no indentation is required, as the steering rack has a "grove" between 2 bands of splines that secures the U-joint to the steering rack.
Done: Hope this is of value to anyone else traveling this route.
