I’m wanting to replace my front wheel ball bearings on my 1941 pickup, model AK with modern taper bearings, but having trouble with finding seals that fit. I have used two different conversion kits from two different vendors and both sets seals don’t work. On the first set, the seal lip when pressed in jammed against the bearing, locking it from turning. On the second set, the vendor stated that their seals are specifically made to fit, yeah right. There’s not enough of a wall surface to hold the seal in place and the seal lip stands proud of the back of the bearing, pinching it between the grease baffle.
Has anyone been able to use these conversion kits and where did you purchase them? Or am I going to have to stick with the ball bearings?
Any help would be appreciated.
