Red, if you aren't trying for 100% original, you can make your own heater coil using a 10 foot long roll of 3/8" copper tubing, a couple of 3/8" to 1/2" copper plumbing adapters, a couple of apx 6 inch long pieces of 1/2 inch copper tubing and the framework your current and leaking heater core is soldered to. Basically you just get an old style coffee can, piece of PVC drainage pipe or anything with the right size inside diameter and wrap your tubing around it, spacing about 1/4" between each pass of the coil. You can use small (1/4 inch square) pieces of wood to keep them spaced apart. Just make a coil that will fit inside your heater shroud and get the connection pieces in the same place, solder that to your old hardware and you're finished for about $35. Changing to 12v will be easy. Actually I gave away a USA made 3 speed 12 volt motor free for cost of shipping a few months ago. As for the capillary tube thermostat, you can get one rebuilt (will not be cheap) but unless you are just dead set on having one of those as per original, there are alternatives. I've sure had a lot of leakage problems with them. I will tell you the heater coil I made like that put out a lot of heat, worked well in defrost mode and I just used a common cable type heater valve that cost about $15. Good luck!
