What is different between 1/2 3/4 and 1 tons?
According to a check of the 1954, 1957 and later Chevy Master Parts Books, all Commercial trucks (1/2 thru 1 ton) shared the same part numbers for the steering connecting rod assembly as well as the pitman arm from 1947-52. This would cover Joe's 1952 3800.
There was a change in design and part number for 1953-55.1 Commercial trucks and then again with the 1955.2-59 Commercial trucks.
