Hello all. I’m new to the forum and (hopefully) soon new to old Chevys.
As eluded to, I don’t currently own an old GM truck (or any GM truck), but I’m hoping to buy one soon. I’m looking to sell my ‘05 Dodge Dakota daily driver and buy something objectively much worse but subjectively much better than said Dakota.
I’m wanting a Chevy or GMC Advanced Design truck, and I have my eye on (and my heart set on) a ‘48 Chevy 3800 Thriftmaster pickup that’s for sale semi-nearby.
I’m somewhat if a fledgeling when it comes to old vehicles in general, but a couple of years ago I jumped in the deep end and bought a 1966 Jeep CJ5A which quickly got me hooked on old American steel.
My Jeep is somewhat reliable and I have a motorcycle, so my monkey brain has decided that it isn’t completely unreasonable to replace a perfectly reliable yet excessively boring daily driver with a 70-80 year old pickup truck that will be relatively terrible to drive but a boatload of fun.
Anyways I’m joining the forum hoping to learn as much as I can about these trucks. Hopefully I’ll learn something about them before I go look at one so I don’t end up with another rusty hunk like my Jeep.
