Use the battery cable ring terminal to apply voltage directly to the starter contact lug. If the starter armature spins normally (it won't engage) replace the switch. Rock Auto has the proper 12V switch with the small side terminal for the ballast resistor bypass, but they call it a "starter solenoid", not a "switch".
