Thanks for that. I too am scared to smear glue on newly painted fender. My old frames might have made a good pattern but are too far gone to support anything. There were some new ones available for awhile (maybe they still are) which I did get. I’ve not put the doors back on yet but it’ll be close to rubbing just as you say. I may then not glue them on either for that reason in case they have to be taken off and shaved down, hope not.
I would also be interested how others have done this job.
