Since I have a Dana S110 sitting around, originally acquired with the idea of putting in my 54 6500 (abandoned the idea) I’ve compared the two some and have been thinking…

The axle shafts in them are not the same at all. Not in length, diameter, spline count or hub mount.
The Timken has according to what I’ve read 1 11/16 diameter axle shafts. Not sure if they are equal lengths on each side but they are probably around 34in long.
The timken and Dana S110 have very similar pumpkin sizes. The bolt pattern however is different, but maybe the Timken housing could be redrilled for the Dana s110 pumpkin?
The S110 has 37, or 40in axle shafts, and is 1.70 roughly in diameter.
So basically my wild idea is… would it be possible to combine the two with some custom axle shafts that would fit in the Timken original hubs on one end and hook into the S110 gears on the other?

Interested to hear what people think who know more about this subject than I do.
