I use the positive seals with the garter spring only on intake valves. Exhaust valve guides don't have vacuum against the bottom of them, so they can either use the floating umbrella seals or the O rings under the retainers- - - - -either/or NOT BOTH! I just opened up an engine with too much oil sealing, and totally worn out valve guides.
