Two adjustments available, worm bearing adjustment and sector gear lash adjustment. They are shown in my '51 GMC Maintenance Manual (Chevys use the same steering box). The '55-59 GMC Maintenance Manual (available on line) has the exact same procedure, so you can print two pages starting HERE and have the procedure for both. You must disconnect the drag link from the Pitman arm to do the procedure. I bought a 5 pound fish scale at Walmart to use as a measuring device.
'57 GMC 102, Original 347 V8, HydraMatic, 3.08 rear gear, added A/C, disk front brakes, HEI, AFB carb, '98 Honda Black Currant paint. T-boned and totaled 10/12 '52 GMC 152 Stake Bed, Original 228, SM420, added A/C, HEI, disk front brakes, '67 Chev 3.55 rear gear. Gets used as a real truck.
