Interesting about the 1176 bulb. It's advertised as RV or appliance use on the web. 1156 and 1157 are normally automotive with the offset pins. Did you change out the housings? So with the 1176, you could put it in "backwards" and get the brighter turn signal filament on the parking light circuit.
