Hey y’all, I’m new here and also fairly new to my truck. I found this up in Stanwood, WA on a farm (barn in pictures belongs to them). I have a 49 GMC Canadian 9434 1 ton single axle long bed. It’s in fantastic original-ish condition. It’s been converted to 12V, I just added front discs, and since I couldn’t get tires for my 3 piece split rims, I went with 16” steelies and radials. I know, I just made purists everywhere cringe with the tires and wheels. Coker’s were not in my budget. Anyway, I am happy to be here and see everyone’s trucks.
I have a question though, these new wheels take a 12” dog dish style baby moon. I want to use my original hubcaps. However, all of the aftermarket clips weren’t made for the 1 ton. They are close in size, but not quite long enough. I’ll Attach some pictures. Do any of you have a solution? I have not had a positive response from any metal fabricators being willing to make any for me, and I’m also on a budget. I promised my wife that this wouldn’t be another garage queen, I’m going to use it like a truck….that gets to park in the garage.
I would also love some opinions. The truck is navy blue, the old wheels matched which I love. New wheels are black. I was planning on painting the running boards black again, and this might tie in my wheels. I would like to hear some of your thoughts. It would be a PAIN given our life to pull the wheels off and paint them out navy, and I don’t think I would ever get a color match anyway. But I haven’t embraced the black wheels yet.
