I never borrow tools from friends, I found that that is normally when they break and you have to buy a new one anyway. If I need a tool that I know I will only use once I will go to the cheapest place and buy it, If I think it will be used several times I spend a bit more. Even the cheap tools will hang around in my toolbox for years, they enjoy the company of the upperclass tools
