you can use a bolt & nut-pretty easy to do once you figger it out. thread a bolt w/a nut & lockwasher into the nutsert,insert into the sheetmetal hole. Hold the bolt from turning while turning the nut w/another wrench, this will collapse the nutsert. Hard to explain,,but it works, the lockwasher helps keep the nutsert from turning. I installed many Aerostar roof racks this way, they even had instructions from Ford never mentioning a "proper" tool. brian
