A 1935 electrical system probably would be running a 3-brush generator, a cutout relay to disconnect the generator from the battery when the engine stops, and a circuit from the headlight switch to boost the generator output when the headlights are on. Before you start on a rewire job, you'll need to confirm that the above circuits are still there. Many, if not most 3-brush charging systems have been upgraded to a later model, higher output 2 brush generator with a 3-unit voltage regulator from the 1940s or newer.
