I did that before I knew any better (for a Ford inline six) and it is a piece of junk. I would have rebuilt the original crusty one had I known.
Don't just buy a generic kit for your carb. Make sure its the right carb for your engine and then get the exact kit for your carb from carbking at The Carburetor Shop.
