I've just accepted the 3 minutes required to use a battery powered drill with a screw driver bit chucked up to zip out 4 screws, remove the metal strip securing the edge of he floor mat and rolling said mat out of the way to open the battery box. Since it's usually only a once or twice a year deal, no problem. I do have a battery charger plug permantently installed that tucks neatly into the bottom of the battery box, just reach under the truck and pull it out to plug in a maintainer/trickle charger that I sometimes leave plugged up if not driving the truck for a spell.
