Anyone know why the early SBC starters were mounted with a stud in the bellhousing, a bolt through the bellhousing into the starter, and a bolt though the starter into the bellhousing?
That seems like a really odd, expensive to build, and complicated to assemble method. Based on that, I assume there was a reason for it, I just can't find any documentation on it.
