Tieing the two tanks together would give you more CFM between compressor cycles. Our Mennonite neighbor who had a custom furniture building business used a 1500 gallon propane tank (propane truck body). He said depending on what he was doing, he only had to fire the compressor up a couple of times a day. I think that air ran the well pump, too.
