The AD year beds were 50" wide inside which matches up with the width of the tailgate you have. Earlier beds were 48.5" inside. I don't believe that 40-47 Chevy tailgates were ever stamped with Chevy script, but were just plain.Not sure if GMC tailgates of that era had embossed logo.
That one is a very good survivor as far as original tailgates go. They were probably the first thing bent on a truck.
