Mechanical side of installation on holley sniper 2.
I'll caveat this 383 has been sitting for 7 years
It was winterized and in heated storage. Before starting iI put fresh oil in. Fogged cylinders and poured oil on valve lifters and springs. Fresh plugs

Used starter to get oil pressure.


Only 2 issues surfaced.
1. Had to buy fuel pressure regulator and fitting
2. Fuel regulator bracket screws interfered with mounting the regulator. Used pop rivets to mount bracket to firewall.

Cycled key for fuel pump to check for leaks. None yeah!!
Set parameters in handheld control box.
Hit starter and immediately fired up. Idle was way to high. 2000 rpm....had to set lower idle on throttle body.

Ran excellent great throttle response.

Noticed a clicky clack rocker noise. I'm glad this noise occurred. We pulled valve cover off to tighten loose rocker.

And there in the oil gully were what looked like small worms. What ??? Finally figured out they were valve stem seal retainer springs. Only found 4 in each bank
These are vortec heads. Only thing we could figure out is the seals had dried out. So pull headers, plug wires, disconnect sniper electric system. Use compressed air in each cylinder at tdc and replace seals.

I GOT A VORTEC WORM INFESTATION.
