| | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 2,097 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 2,097 | Yes. Also called a ballast resistor. It is commonly used in 12 Volt conversions. It reduces the running voltage
to about 9 volts to protect the points. You should also have a bypass for starting on 12 volts if it is done correctly.
