Look at Fords (and Lincolns and Mercurys) from the 60s through the 70s, cars and trucks. They all have the same column mounted shift indicator that sits right on top of the steering column.

First picture is 1964 Galaxie 500. Second picture is 1976 F-150. Those made for the trucks can still be purchased new.
