Apparently I am one of the lucky ones. My truck is a lifelong rust belt specimen and needed new king pin bushings. Being a 2 ton truck, the new pins/bushings had to be reamed. I didn't have any trouble removing the old pins, just tapped them out with a 3 lb. sledge. I took the knuckles and new pin/bushing kit to my local motor machine shop and they pressed in the new bushings and honed them to fit the new pins. I put it together with no problems and have zero detectable slop in the knuckle.
